The Edmonton City Centre Airport is a major economic driver. According to an Intervista’s study conducted in 2005, the City Centre Airport employs over 900 direct jobs and generated over $651 million in economic activity. Major activities at the airport include medevacs, charters, corporate aviation, flight training and aircraft maintenance. In 2008 there were 82,454 aircraft movements at the airport.
Meanwhile, many Edmontonians are not even aware that the airport is open let alone the community that exists. Something had to be done. Out of that need, the Aviation Edmonton Association was formed to “promote and create awareness of the aviation community at the City Centre Airport”.
There are two types of membership, sustaining and individual. Sustaining members have to be connected to the aviation industry at Edmonton City Centre Airport. Sustaining members have voting privileges. The membership fee is $300.00.
Individual members can be anyone who wants to show support for the airport and wants to support the association. They do not have voting privileges. The membership fee is only $10.00.
